     What's on offer?

    1-to-1 training in the Edinburgh area (or further afield if travel costs are reimbursed).

    The training is based on your digital camera, where you want to be trained, and the session will pick up anything you particularly want to learn - such as photographing indoors, flower shots, family portraits or landscapes as well as a few key fundamentals to improve your picture taking.

    The courses below are a guide to what can be covered, but I will train you on what you want to know.

    STARTER LEVELCovers - Basic photography. Camera controls. Skills you want to learn.
    You will:
    •  Feel confident controlling and changing the settings on your camera to achieve a desired result.
    •  Understand the basics of photography and be able to apply that knowledge to controlling the camera.
    •  Get a series of future projects on a handout to further hone your practical skills.
    Duration - 2 hours
    Location - Anywhere in the Edinburgh area, a café, a park walk or your home.

    INTERMEDIATE LEVELCovers - Mastering control of your camera. Creative control over your shots.
    You will:
    • Understand the purpose and usefulness of your camera's more advanced settings, such as exposure compensation, white balance, ISO, using manual mode, metering.
    • Gain a greater understanding of the principles of photography and how they affect your shots.
    • Get a series of future projects to practice the new skills and become a good photographer.
    Duration - 2 hours
    Location - Anywhere in the Edinburgh area, a café, a park walk or your home.

    ADVANCED LEVELCovers - Skills for perfect results. Photoshop manipulation. Full control over your shots.
    You will:
    • Understand the full set of options available to you as you take pictures.
    • Understand exposure and how to make the correct decisions about depth of field, shutter speeds, ISO, White balance and evaluate the results.
    • Using flash to get professional results.
    • Learn about image manipulation (cropping, resizing, working with layers, levels, curves, filters, hue/saturation, removing dust and scratches, cloning) in Photoshop and understand file types for saving (Jpeg, TIFF, PSD) and workflow.
    • Learn what will be required to take your photography to a higher level.
    Duration - 3 hours
    Location - Somewhere with access to Photoshop (I have facilities, if required).

    PHOTOSHOP COURSECovers - Either Basic Photoshop or Intermediate Photoshop.
    • Learn how to open, edit, manipulate and save files in the industry standard software package.
    • Work with layers and masks to edit your photos without damaging them.
    • Learn the subtler ways to edit photos, and the shortcuts.
    • Create your own efficient workflow from start to finish.
    • Intermediate - Working with RAW files, using Adobe Camera RAW.
    Duration - 3 hours
    Location -     Somewhere with access to Photoshop (I have facilities, if required).
